Introduction: 

”3 Idiots” is an Indian film made in Hindi released in the year 2009 and directed by Rajkumar Hirani while the movie was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat novel Five Point Someone is a feel good comedy about three student who rebel against the mechanistic educational system in India. Plot of "3 Idiots": 

The story of ‘3 Idiots’ is based on three friends – Rancho played by Aamir Khan, Farhan that is R. Madhavan and Raju that is Sharman Joshi studying in an engineering college in India. It uses a flash back structure of the characters in their college life and in the contemporary scene.

As Farhan & Raju: 

receives a phone call about their long lost friend ‘Rancho’ after the school gets over it becomes tough for viewers to grasp. They, my two friends, then proceed to look for him and know the details of where he is. As the four are looking for Rancho, they question Kambhoji about their years in college and how much Rancho influenced them.

Rancho is the main protagonist who does not adhere to conventional system that has been imposed on students. He rebels against the conventional education system where the major emphasis is laid on strict rules of studying as opposed to freedom of ideas. Rancho’s way of thinking makes him different from the rest of the other students and even gets him on the bad side of the college dean, Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani), a strict traditionalist .

Exam pressure, dreams and parental pressure put Faucalade, Farhan and Raju through a strain during which their friendship is tested in this fantastic movie. The fact that Rancho always avoids conventional norms of the society, he urges his friends to do the same. The College Dean Viru Sahastrabuddhe done by Boman Irani is stiff and orthodox symbolizing the stiff education system. About the acting I can say that Irani did a very good job, he is a dangerous man who can make a guest laugh at the same time.

Kareena Kapoor as Pia Sahastrabuddhe:

The second main character is Pia, who is younger sister of the college dean, played by Kareena Kapoor. She is a medical student who one day ends falling in love with Rancho. I find Kareena very graceful and her comic timing and sweet disposition offsets the intensity of the film to quite well.

The movie 3 Idiots was directed by Rajkumar Hirani who came into lime light after making successful social comedy movies. In the case of 3 Idiots, he does an extraordinary job of introducing the subject and portraying the state of student life and the system’s pressure without item complaining. Flashing back, that’s where Hirani outdoes his talent by showing emotions and not twisting the film to become a preachy lesson.
