Farzi Web Series Review: Cast, Plot, Episodes, and All You Need to Know About This Thrilling Show
Introduction
It is a great idea imagine that you have the ability to produce fiat money by putting your paper and ink in to a machine and producing paper currency. No more distress over bank balances, no more looking for the ‘LOW BALANCE’ notification on the cellphone just before placing the order. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, Farzi takes that dream, and turns it into a suspenseful, high stakes nightmare.
Available on Amazon Prime Video, Farzi is a crime thriller with a healthy dose of drama, action and sprinkling of wit. For people who love watching nerve cracking performances as well as those moments that have you splitting your ribs with laughter, then this is the show to watch.

What is Farzi All About?
The show is based on the main character named Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), who is an artist but fails to find lucrative job opportunities. He’s got skills, but the problem is skills won’t get you money but if he could counterfeit money, he’ll be loaded.
Yes, you heard that right. Not satisfied with being an artist for the elite to hang on their walls, Sunny, with the help of his friend, Firoz, sets out to counterfeit them. And you know why sell a painting for a few thousand rupees when you can print lakhs yourself? Seems logical.
But as you would anticipate, it is not all plain sailing from here on. The fake currency business is no petty schmoozing corner store business – its overseen by some very, very bad men, including a crime lord, Mansoor Dalal (Kay Kay Menon). And to make things worse.. The government has its own team of counterfeit currency hunters whose each member has expertise and top among them is Michael (Vijay Sethupathi) who is a bastion of hard work and commitment and whose sole aim is to demolish all the unlawful operations.
Thus, with perfect timing, Sunny and Firoz find themselves between the thugs and authorities – a very dangerous place indeed for some of the most exhilarating, intelligent, and rather surprising scenes in classic crime-thriller tradition are about to unfold.
Why Farzi Stands Out
It is possible to watch many completely different crime dramas, however Farzi is far from being a mere gangster shootout series. Here’s what makes it special:
- 1. Shahid Kapoor’s First Web Series, and He Nails It
It’s not the first time to watch Shahid performing the gravely characters (Haider, Kabir Singh), but in Farzi the charm along with the desperation fits him perfectly. He’s not your stereotypical superhero and he is just an average man who decided he was being poor for too long and here he’s got a shortcut which is highly against the law. This is because everyone has thought at one point in their lives, there must be an easy way to make money. (No? Just me? Okay.)
- 2. Vijay Sethupathi Steals the Show
The great thing about watching Vijay Sethupathi is that no matter how somber or dark a character he portrays is, he makes it look cool. When the high-octane lawman pursuing rogue money makers, he adds a certain comedic element to the series. Whether he’s feeling happy, he will just pull a prank and if he’s angry he will knock you out—and that is what makes him enjoyable .
- 3. The Humor is on Point
Yes, crime thrillers may become too dark and intense, like the case with Sacred Games, but Farzi works to balance it out with some comedy. It is done through flashbacks of Sunny and Firoz ‘boy love’ last moments or through Michael’s sarcasm in every scene, even the bad guy’s flamboyance, while entertaining does state that they are bad.
- 4. It’s Surprisingly Thought-Provoking
In all the action and comedy, Farzi has some interesting questions for you. The show is about the middle-class angst, lack of obedience to the law, and the blunt realism of working one’s ass off only to be a paycheck away from homelessness. Which also leads to an important question — what kind of person would actually refuse the easy way to get money when given the opportunity?
Best Moments That You’ll Love
Sunny and Firoz’s “business meetings” – Their sessions on creating fake money look like founders pitching their ideas, and it’s funny.
Michael was also a formal manager – He would fire someone for being late but would then take them out for a beer.
The chases – You have to know that escaping the police is not as exciting as movies make it to be. (Spoiler: It entails a lot of sweating.)
Should You Watch Farzi?
For all those who enjoy watching crime thrillers and can also find humor in the most nerve-wracking situations – Farzi is worth it. It has great plot and cast, and is packed to the rafters with turns and turns. Moreover, when there is Raj & DK, the creators of The Family Man, you can be sure you’ll love it.
Well, sit back down with your bucket of popcorn and get prepared for the run through the world of false bills, real threats and unforgettable persons. The only thing I can say is, don’t take anything from the show. You know, printing money might seem fun but jail food is not.
